Rainbow Self Storage started with three buildings and 110 units in 1976 and was the first self storage business in the local area.


From the beginning the company motto has always been “Neat, Clean and Professional”.


We have always been the top and most respected storage operator in our local communities.  We enjoy a very high level of respect due to our continued dedication to our high company standards and community support.


We command substantial brand equity in our market area.  Approximately 50% of our new tenants are either returning customers or have been personally referred.


Since our start in 1976, Rainbow Self Storage has expanded numerous times and has grown to include eight locations with three offices and about 3,325 units.

Gross area of all buildings is about 457,500 sq. ft.


We have four facilities in Eureka, two facilities in Arcata and two facilities in McKinleyville, with an office in each town.


Our main business office is located in Eureka and is open Monday thru Saturday.  The Arcata and McKinleyville offices are open five days a week with shorter hours.


All three office locations have Open Tech Kiosks which are accessible from the outside of the building to allow people to rent spaces outside of our office hours and to make payments. 


We are just now adding the ability for prospective tenants to fully rent spaces via our web site.  The web site will also take credit card payments online.  Recent upgrades have made our website: Mobile Friendly”.

All of our tenant management is done using SiteLink, a cloud-based software.


Our local managers are able to rent any spaces in any one of our eight locations from any office and take payments for any unit in our system.  


Each storage unit has a monitored individual intrusion alarm.  Each building has smoke detectors which are connected to a central monitoring station.

Our Broadway location and the “Theater” building at our Indianola location are protected with fire sprinkler systems.

All locations are accessible via high speed internet for control of the door alarm and gate control systems. 


All facilities are fully fenced, and each has a coded entry gate system. 


All alarm installations use the WHAM alarm system.


Four locations have state of the art high definition closed circuit video systems with web accessible NVRs.


Rainbow Self Storage operates as a Sole Proprietorship with eight full time employees and a part time, in house, bookkeeper.


We are fortunate to very long-term employees.



            General Manager- 1 full time with 25 years tenure.


Office staff:

            Site Managers- 3 full time with 9 years, 6 years and <1-year tenure.


            Part time (about 20 hrs/wk) 34+ years tenure.


Maintenance supervisor:

            Working maintenance supervisor with 15 years tenure.

            Maintenance crew of three with: 8 years, 4 years, 1 year tenure.


The maintenance handles almost all repairs.  Generally only roof replacements are contracted out.



The owner is “hands on” and dedicates about 10 hours a week to the overall management of the business.



Owner is a licensed Real Estate Broker in California and a Licensed General Building contractor in California.
